UGANDA.
In January of 2014 I took a journey of a lifetime, it was a journey that changed me, challenged me and brought me closer to my Jesus; it was a journey I took to Uganda with a ministry called Show Mercy International. I spent a total of three months in this beautiful country doing ministry, learning about Ugandan culture, and building relationships with the people there. More importantly, while I was in Uganda I had my world rocked by my Lord, he showed me who He truly is and who I am as a daughter of the King.
While I was in Uganda I had the opportunity of working for an incredible ministry called Show Mercy International. Show Mercy has a heart for seeing transformation in the villages they reach out to by mobilizing, inspiring and empowering the people of Uganda to live life on purpose. Show Mercy’s base, Field of Dreams, is located in a small village called Nawanswa which is in the Wakiso district about an hour and half from the capitol city. That particular area is predominately Muslim and most villages have no running water or electricity.
Show Mercy’s ministry focuses on three main areas of outreach: orphan care, elder care and village outreach. During my time there I was able to work inside each of these programs. Every Saturday I was able to attend our SayNoToHunger program in Bakka and work with the kids in that village. Each week I was able to visit a few elderly women in our HERO program and during village outreach I went into Wakiso and loved on people in the market, spent time at the prison in Sentema and walked the streets of Bakka waiting for instruction from the Holy Spirit.
I am sure many of you are wondering why I chose Uganda and what lead me to serve in this country. I wish I had made a list of all the times "Uganda" came up in my life over the past two years. Work meetings. Random conversations. Retreats. Coffee shops. Books. There are probably more divine encounters in the past two years with Uganda that I have forgotten than I remember. Check out my blog post 'Why Uganda?' to read more about the divine appointments and conversations I had that lead me to my decision to serve and journey to Uganda.
My trip to Uganda changed my life, like most of you could imagine. But it didn’t change my life in a way that I can easily explain, it changed me from the inside out. I learned about who I am as a daughter of the King. I learned who I am as a servant and a leader of the Lord. Most importantly, I learned what it looks like to pursue and radically chase after Jesus in a way that is going to impact our world forever.

It's really hard for me to explain and articulate into word what I experienced and witness while I was in Uganda, so I made this video in hopes of helping others gain a better understanding and an inside look into what I spent those three months of life doing.
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
